Year 9 Trip to the Jewish Museum

Pupils in Year 9 are studying religious persecution in RE this term. We have briefly explored the Holocaust and looked at the groups of people involved – victims, perpetrators and bystanders. We have also looked at the timeline of events that led up to Kristallnacht and genocide.

On Monday 23 January, we visited The Jewish Museum in Camden Town to take part in a workshop about the Holocaust and to make connections between religion and the events that took place. Pupils explored the art of Hans Jackson and what it expressed about Jews living in Germany and heard stories of Jewish children living in London that had been brought to Britain on The Kindertransport. Pupils also had a chance to handle precious religious objects that survived concentration camps and prisons. The pupils asked some very thoughtful and sensitive questions.
