A combination of the best in traditional and contemporary teaching methods in a full range of subjects can be seen at Braeside. Class sizes are small and in Years 10 and 11 all subjects are taught in half class groups with accordingly successful results. Academic class work is well balanced by activities such as sport, music and drama. A successful P.E. department encourages competition at inter-house, inter-school, district and national levels. Programmes for citizenship and community service are well embedded in the school. Girls are entered for music/speech examinations with individual and group entries at speech and drama festivals, public speaking and debating competitions. Enhancement programmes for years 7, 8 and 9 take place during the summer term. Day visits are organised to a wide variety of venues and overseas trips, such as the one to Iceland in 2007 and the one planned to France in October 2008, are regularly offered.
