In PHSE, in the context of refugee week, Year 10 explored how empathy and sharing other people’s stories can help understand those with very different circumstances. In a particular activity, pupils were asked to imagine they were a refugee girl from Syria having just landed in Greece and to describe her feelings. Some students chose to write poems and others diary entries. The students’ showed great understanding and maturity in expressing the feelings of refugees. A special mention to Hagar, Sam, Tamia and Simran for beautiful and powerful poems and Ayla, Nikki, Kiera and Simona for poignant diary entries.
Well done, Year 10!
