For Entry Into Year 7 (11+)
Scholarships are awarded each year to those candidates from the cohort of internal and external applicants who demonstrate excellence during a competitive assessment process. They are currently awarded for Sport, Music, Art, Drama and Academic excellence.
A pupil may apply for multiple scholarships; however, the school will award one 15% scholarship to successful applicants, irrespective of how many scholarships each applicant applies for.
Assessment
Candidates will have scholarship interviews, lasting around 30 minutes: one with the Head and one with a specialist teacher. These usually take place on the same day. We will require documentary evidence to support the application in the form of a portfolio including, but not limited to: certificates, headed letters of recommendation, examples of work and any other supporting materials.
Practical performance forms part of the interview process for music and drama pupils. Pupils are asked to perform a prepared piece as well as a piece of sight-reading or improvisation. Music scholars usually have grade 3 or higher in at least one instrument.
Sports scholars usually play beyond school, demonstrate commitment over time to their sport, and represent a club or borough.
Art scholars have portfolios and are accomplished artists for their age, with well-developed artistic skills across a range of disciplines.
