Year 10 Eye Dissection

Year 10 have been learning about the human eye in Biology lessons this week. They have made models of eyes including ray diagrams showing how an object is focussed onto the retina by refraction at the cornea and lens. The students can now explain in detail how the lens works by changing shape and how the shape of the lens can affect short sightedness or long sightedness. Our dissection of real sheep’s eyes was helpful for comparing how models and scientific diagrams differ from the real biological organs which can be very messy but interesting to see.
