Over the past two weeks, Year 6 worked on the French rhyme ‘1, 2, 3 allons dans les bois’: they had to learn the song and practice its pronunciation to perfection, then translate it using dictionaries and the words they already knew.
Finally, they had to manipulate the song to make it their own and were encouraged to be as creative as they wished, before performing it in front of their peers, who had to write as many words they could understand as possible. Performers were allowed to use props to help their classmates with understanding.
By working creatively on the song, they were given the opportunity to practice all four skills of listening, speaking, writing and reading, which formed part of their assessment for this half-term.
