Year 10 Trip to St John’s Church

The Year 10 Religious Studies group (made up of Normanhurst and Braeside pupils) have been studying Christianity this term. They have explored the existence of God; the nature of God; the role of Jesus; how sin entered the world and have been looking at worship in a church. Pupils have had many philosophical questions about the trinity; why suffering exists and whether a perfect world was ever made in the first place.

The group travelled to St John’s Church in Buckhurst Hill to further explore the possible Christian responses to these questions. Sam Lockstone, the Education Officer at the church, led a seminar about the major beliefs that all Christians hold and gave pupils a tour of the church. Pupils were then put into groups to decide whether beliefs were Christian or not.

Year 10 then had time to ask Sam the questions that had been posed earlier in the term.
