Year 7 Flower Dissection

Year 7 continue their Biology lessons on the topic of ecosystems. They are learning about flowers and pollination, therefore to further their knowledge they dissected roses to observe the male and female parts inside.

Some of the pupils were surprised to find both male and female parts inside each flower and that insects were needed in order for pollination to occur. They then went on to compare the features of insect pollinated flowers and wind pollinated plants.
