Year 7 have been looking at famous speeches in history this half term and this week they wrote a speech with the title “There is no place for racism in 2020”. They all wrote amazing speeches showing a great deal of maturity on the issue. Some of the students have said the following about why they think it is important to discuss racism:
Aina: “I think it is important to learn about racism because we should understand the world we live in. Racism should stop because people just want to live in peace and without peace how can life get along?”
Humaira: “I think learning about racism is important because you won’t like to be treated badly so you need to treat others the way you want to be treated. Due to the situations going on the world we learn that we need to be careful of what we say and what we do. Racism should stop because we are all equal, we are all one humanity and we are all here to support each other so that is why I think racism should stop.”
