Amazing Art From Year 3 & 4

Year 3 and 4 are exploring the work of Alma Woosdey Thomas and have started to begin their sketch-book journey.  Alma was the first African American to have her art exhibited in The white House. She loved using bright, bold colours in her paintings and would regularly use small, rectangular blocks of colour.  She was inspired by science and nature and was a high school teacher for 36 years where she encouraged the children that she worked with to look closely at nature, and to create art which made them happy.

Pupils have been exploring how to mix colour and use paint, pencil and printing techniques to create our own abstract art-work.  They have been really excited to have their own sketch-book and create art using line, shapes and colour.
