Young Writer’s Poetry Competition

Back in November, lots of students submitted entries in to the ‘Empowered’ poetry competition. Having received in excess of 12,000 entries, Young Writers’ were wowed by all the entries received, stating that “Empowered has really ignited imaginations and encouraged young adults to write passionately!”

Three of our students at Braeside were selected as having their poems included for publication in ‘Empowered – Voices Released’, which is an amazing feat!

Having work published is a fantastic way to boost confidence and showcases the extraordinary talent in their creativity and writing skills as well as giving students a real audience and purpose for their writing. Well done and congratulations to Amaya (Year 8), Maya (Year 7) and Easha (Year 7).

Everyone was very impressed with all the poems the students presented and submitted in to this competition, each of them received a lovely bookmark and a certificate. We hope these students will continue to share their writing, and that they motivate others to share their writing and thoughts also. As Albert Einstein once said: “Creativity is contagious, pass it on”…
