Success At The 2022 Intermediate Maths Challenge

On Wednesday 2nd February 2022, students from years 9, 10 and 11 joined schools from across the UK and took part in the UKMT Intermediate Mathematical Challenge.

Year 9 – Lauren, Adiba, Hazel and Eva

Year 10 – Aina, Iman, Emerald, Nadia and Isabelle

Year 11 – Emilie

This is a national challenge that encourages mathematical thinking by solving 25 demanding and tricky questions in one hour.

Students from around the world take part and the best performing students are awarded bronze, silver and gold certificates.

Iman achieved the highest score and received the award for ‘Best in School’ as well as a ‘Gold’ award. Emilie received the award for ‘Best In Year’ as well as a ‘Gold’ award. Iman received the award for ‘Best in Year’ as well as a ‘Bronze’ award. Isabelle received the ‘Silver’ award and Eva, Emerald and Nadia all received the Bronze award.

Three students were selected for the follow up ‘Kangaroo rounds’. Emilie took part in the ‘Pink Kangaroo 2022’ and achieved a ‘Certificate of Participation’. Iman and Isabelle took part in the ‘Grey Kangaroo’ and also achieved a ‘Certificate of Participation’. A huge well done to these girls for getting through to the next round.
