On Friday 11 November, Year 2 and Year 4 took a trip to Colchester Zoo. The children took the minibus, kindly driven by Miss Barrett, on the hour journey to the zoo. When they arrived, they were able to have a look at a few of the animals before heading into their workshop on habitats.
Heather, the workshop leader, taught pupils about how animals adapt to their habitats and how they are able to live in very difficult conditions like the Sahara Desert and the Arctic. The children even got to feel some real animal skins! After lunch, pupils found some more animals and were shocked at how close to the elephants we could get! Finally, they finished off in the gift shop before heading home. Everyone had a fantastic day, learnt a lot, and saw some of their favourite animals!
