Meeting Florence Nightingale: Year 2 children step back in time

On Wednesday 15 November, the Year 2 children joined with Oaklands School to take part in a ‘Florence on the Road’ workshop.

Through story-telling and drama, we learnt all about ‘The Lady with the Lamp’.  We helped Florence to tell the story of her life – why she went to the Crimea and how she improved conditions for the soldiers and nurses and discovering, as a result of her work, what legacy she left for the future of nursing.

We all really enjoyed the experience of meeting Florence in person and learnt so many new things about her and her life!
